Bruce B. Ludwig, Jr., MD, FACP, FCCP
Dr. Ludwig received his bachelor’s degree in biological chemistry from Tulane University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He continued his education at Columbia University, receiving a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1995.
After medical school, Dr. Ludwig entered the U.S. Navy, serving as a physician for 12 years and earning the rank of Commander. Between 1995 and 2004, Dr. Ludwig completed internship, residency and a fellowship programs at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. His military assignments included tours of duty in California, Maryland, Japan and Kuwait. Most recently, he served as a staff pulmonary and critical care physician at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland until he joined Knoxville Pulmonary Group/UPCC in 2007.
Dr. Ludwig’s medical specialties and interests include pulmonary infections, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension and critical care medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Ludwig received the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal. He is an honor graduate of the Naval Undersea Medical Institute.
